Jacqueline (Jacqui) Gilmer, MS, LPC-S, LCDC

Clinical Director

I received my BA in psychology in 2011 and finished my MS in Counseling in 2013; both degrees are from Lubbock Christian University. I am ABD in a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. I started in this field as an intern 10 years ago with no plans to work in substance use. However, as an intern, I got thrown into it and quickly realized it was my niche. I specialize in SUD/co-occurring disorders, acute mental illness, crisis management, PTSD/Trauma and I am trained in both EMDR and ART (both are eye movement therapies). I have been a clinical director of a children’s home, a co-occurring counselor at a domestic violence shelter, and worked with probation as a supervisor and oversaw specialty courts such as DWI Court, Re-entry Court and Young Adult Mental Health Courts. I have been a clinical director or supervisor at several treatment centers in the Austin, TX area prior to working for Evoke. I have also worked as a crisis/victim counselor with the Lubbock Police Department, where I worked alongside officers to provide acute crisis intervention to the civilians of the city. I originally planned to be a music journalist; however, an interview with one of my favorite vocalists turned into a counseling session about the death of his brother and when I walked away from that concert, I knew that my higher power had plans for me to be a helper and that is what I have done since. In my private practice, I specialize in faith-based counseling for both mental health and/or substance use and other compulsive disorders. As an LPC-S, I provide supervision to LPC associates who have a provisional license with the state while they work toward independent licensure. In my free time, I am a mom to three wonderful children; I enjoy writing poetry/prose and attending concerts. I love reading and learning new things as well as playing basketball and hiking.
